Welcome to the LSE Men’s Football Club.
Football:
Despite being a small uni, Men’s Football have seven teams that all compete twice every week. Each of our teams differs in quality, allowing us to provide for all abilities of players and sustain our large member base. Among our ranks, we have players who have competed at the national level in their respective home countries as well as locally for Sunday league teams. We have a lot of talent in our club, but we also enthusiastically welcome those who have only ever played casually.
People come to LSE with the expectation that our sporting ability will be lacking compared to other universities. This could not be further from the truth. Across the board, LSE is a gifted sporting institution, and the Men’s Football proudly boasts a large chunk of LSE's successes. In the past two years, the club, collectively, has won 4 league titles, 3 cups, and has achieved 7 promotions. On top of that, one of our more recent achievements was beating Imperial 2-0 in last year’s annual varsity match. You can be sure that you will taste success with us.
Socials:
While football is a vital aspect of our club, the social element is unrivalled. Due to our welcoming culture and atmosphere, we regularly have a big turnout on our Wednesday night socials, which our members widely regard as the highlight of their week. When you join our club, you join a group of friendly, funny and interesting guys who will welcome and integrate you immediately. No other club at LSE has such a tight-knit group on such a large scale, and this is what makes it such a great club to be a part of. You will have a broad range of events and activities to look forward to throughout the year including pub quiz nights, team socials, various ridiculous dress-up nights, casual 5-a-side, AU Ball, charity campaigns, pub golf, darts night, curry nights, just to name a few and of course the legendary CAROL.
Charity & Outreach:
Last year our greatest off-field achievement was winning LSE’s most altruistic club of the year. This was earnt through participating in various charity campaigns such as Movember, where we raised £5000 for men’s mental health, and also taking part in a 24 hour football match for Stand Up To Cancer. Whilst we believe our sporting achievements and social events make us a great club, our emphasis on charity and outreach is something we’re extremely proud of.
So, whether you fancy playing a bit or just want to be part of a great bunch of lads and have a good time we’d love to have you aboard. We urge as many people as possible to get involved and come down to our trials this weekend to meet our committee and get a feel for the club. MEMBERSHIP
Whilst our membership price seems a lot at first, purchasing a Men’s Football membership doesn’t only welcome you into one of the closest clubs on campus, but it also gives you access to a number of unrivalled benefits.
Our members receive subsidised travel for all fixtures, along with the annual opportunity to buy FC Stash, play in our varsity fixture, come to wednesday socials, and most importantly represent the club in over 35 competitive games.
We reimburse 85% of travel costs per game - and so you’re most likely to make your membership fee back before Christmas.
Our alumni are oft-quoted as saying that their time in Men’s Football was the highlight of their time at university, so come along to trials, join one of our seven teams, and get ready for an incredible year of football.
Please note that you will only have to buy membership once you have officially joined a team, so please hold off form purchasing at this moment.
EVENTS AND ACTIVITIES
Men’s Football is widely regarded to be the most social at LSE, with a wide range of socials for people of all interests and backgrounds.
On top of our competitive fixtures, the social events, suitable for drinkers and non-drinkers, include karaoke nights, pub quizzes, footgolf, team dinners, curry nights, pub golf and plenty more besides.
When you join Men’s FC, you become part of a family who will make your life at LSE the most fun it could possibly be.
For most of our Alumni, their highlight of LSE was without a show of a doubt being part of Men’s Football, so we’re confident that joining us will be the best decision you make during your time at university.
