The LSE Filipino Society is pleased to present the inaugural Philippine Democracy Series, a five-day dialogue convening students, scholars, practitioners, policymakers, and emerging professionals to examine the foundations, contemporary challenges, and future directions of Philippine democracy.
This year’s theme, “Reimagining Democracy: Participation, Leadership, and Shared Futures,” frames the series as a forward-looking conversation on how democratic institutions, civic culture, and leadership can evolve in response to social change, technological disruption, and shifting regional dynamics, both within the Philippines and across the global Filipino community.
These dialogues are complemented by interactive discussions and networking sessions designed to foster open exchange, respectful debate, and collaboration across generations, disciplines, and professional pathways. Central to the series is a commitment to nurturing a community of inquiry, one that values diverse perspectives and recognises the role of overseas Filipinos in shaping democratic discourse.
At a moment when debates around institutional trust, representation, and accountability are being redefined, this series approaches democracy as a living and collective practice—sustained through informed dialogue, inclusive participation, and a shared responsibility to imagine more just and democratic futures together.
