Michael Kill is one of the UK’s leading voices on nightlife, hospitality, and the night-time economy. As CEO of the Night Time Industries Association (NTIA), he represents thousands of businesses across the sector and works at the intersection of government, culture, and commerce. He is widely recognised for shaping national debate on nightlife policy, economic recovery, and the future of urban cultural infrastructure.
Michael Kill leads the trade body for the UK's night-time economy, representing clubs, bars, festivals and venues through licensing reform, the pandemic, and the wave of closures that followed. He also chairs the International Professional Security Association, giving him a direct view of door policy, staff training and customer safety. He has become one of the most prominent voices arguing that nightlife is economic and cultural infrastructure rather than a nuisance to be regulated down, and appears regularly in the national press and before policymakers on licensing, late-night transport and the cost of operating after dark.
He joins the Holborn Union to discuss the state of British nightlife, the politics of regulation, and who is really responsible for keeping people safe on a night out.
Jay Chan is attempting to have a pint in every one of the UK's 650 parliamentary constituencies, a project that has built a substantial following and taken him through more of the country than most politicians see in a career. He writes and posts on pubs, politics and place, and on what the state of the local pub says about the state of the local community. He joins the Holborn Union to talk about pubs, politics and what he has learned on the road.
