HOW WILL WE SAVE BRITAIN?
Meet the people with the ideas on 14th September 2025
The professional politicians have failed to air the most pressing questions put to
them by the British people. Now Britain’s leading thinkers air them.
The British people are deeply worried about
• The de-development of the economy following multiple shocks of
deindustrialisation, globalisation and digital transformation. How do we
ensure a better life for left behind regions and families, and for coming
generations?
• What is Britain's standing in today's world, what is it meant to be?
• What will it take for us to feel secure in an increasingly warlike world?
• How can we get better legislators, better governance?
• Which war are we fighting and can we survive it?
We've brought together a collection of prominent authors who've recently written about just this:
Jon Moynihan, Lord Moynihan of Chelsea, is a British businessman, venture capitalist who served as the CEO and executive chairman of PA Consulting Group from 1992 to 2013. He is the author of two books challenging our politicians to face the facts and reverse decline: Return to Growth, How to Fix the Economy – Volumes One and Two (2024)
Sunder Katwala led the Fabian Society before founding the think tank British Future. He writes regularly for the Guardian, New Statesman and Telegraph. He published How to be a Patriot in 2023.
Sarah Lubrano published. Don’t talk about politics this year. The book combines a remarkable range of research to show us the psychological and sociological factors that really shape our politics. Dr Lubrano communicates through the Sense and Solidarity Initiative and the Future Narratives Lab. She was previously the Head of Content at The School of Life.
Angus Hanton is a businessman and founder of the Intergenerational Foundation. His Vassal State made the Telegraph’s ‘The 50 best books of 2024’. Vassal State lays bare the extent to which US corporations own and control Britain's economy: how American business chiefs decide what we're paid, what we buy, and how we buy it.
Alessio Patalano is Professor of War & Strategy in East Asia at the Department of War Studies. He was the first specialist advisor (SPAD) on the Indo-Pacific to the Foreign Affairs Committee of the UK Parliament to assess the impact of strategic stability in the Strait of Taiwan on UK national security. He has been embedded in NATO and Royal Navy exercises. The New Age of Naval Power in the Indo-Pacific is his most recent book.
Richard Morris is an engineer who now lectures in enterprise and innovation to design and engineering students. His Will Britain Make it? The Rise, Fall and Future of British Industry explores the rise, fall and future of British industry and all the complexities surrounding it. Who’s to blame for its slow decline? What about Brexit? Can it be resurrected?
Ewen Stewart is a City of London economist and managing director of Walbrook Economics. Many of his publications can be found on Think Scotland. A director of Global Britain, he has just been appointed to head the Institute of International Monetary Research.
Lee Jones is Professor in International Politics at Queen Mary College, with a special interest in China. He is co-author of Taking Control: Sovereignty and Democracy After Brexit. Taking Control makes the democratic case for national sovereignty, arguing for a radical, forward-looking reconstitution of the British nation-state through strengthening representative democracy.
Isabel Oakeshott is a multi-award winning political journalist and broadcaster, specialising in breaking agenda-setting stories, such as the Lockdown Files expose with the Daily Telegraph. She was political editor of The Sunday Times and is the co-author of White Flag? - An Examination of the UK's Defence Capability.
