Britain’s second-best hangman has been sent to the chopping block.

Harry Wade has swapped the gallows for the inn: now he’s a pub landlord in Oldham, Manchester, pulling pints and grasping tightly to his reputation as a self-appointed local legend.

But when an unsettlingly familiar stranger breezes in and starts asking the wrong questions, Harry’s cosy little kingdom begins to wobble. Drinks are poured, egos are bruised, secrets reveal themselves — and suddenly everyone’s out for justice.
