This event will analyze the role of judicial systems, especially the penal system, within the institutional frameworks of Latin America, particularly Argentina. It will examine how the judicial crisis of the past century has diminished community trust in democracy and weakened the control mechanisms of republican models. Furthermore, it will argue that the role of judicial systems has hindered the effectiveness and sustainability of other public policies in areas such as economics, security, human rights, gender, and education.
