This is no ordinary event...this Additional Student Members' Meeting is an introduction to changemaking though your SU.

Making Effective Policy Workshop (14.00-15.00, in person)
Byelaw Deliberation and Voting (15.00-16.00, hybrid)
Part training, part social, we don't just want to offer you opportunity to shape the direction of your Union, but equip all students with the tools to make real change in the wider world. Empowerment is the word of the day, but if that doesn't excite you enough, this is also a great chance to shape our policy and expand your network over free refreshments. There will also be prizes for attendees, so watch this space...
Starting of with a policy development workshop, we'll be giving attendees a challenging task to build a policy proposal with real world implications, and discussing how to build policy that can make a difference right here at LSE.
We'll then be voting to change our byelaws for sports and societies, to update the kind of support they can offer their members. The event will be taking place in Room 1.02 of the Parish Hall Building, but attendees can also dial in from 3pm for the byelaw portion.
"Why is a Student Members' Meeting important to me?"
No matter your year of study, department or your stance on the SU, the ASMM is beneficial for all students to attend. We'll be practicing our policy development skills and influencing the direction of the SU for years to come.
If you have no idea about how the Union works, this is a great way to find out who we are and what we do first hand.
Maybe you're involved or part of the Students' Union in some way? Then you'll be keen to hear about how we're trying to change our byelaws to make sports and societies even better.
The best reason to attend? You get first hand experience of how an organisation is run, what challenges there are, and what works. Who knows, one day you could be running your own Student Members' Meeting!
Our byelaws shape how we behave as a union. They are updated incrementally at our All Student Members' Meetings, with support from our Democracy Committee. Byelaws dictate, for example, club and society membership rules, the purposes of our various committees, and the timings by which we need to enact our democratic processes. These are available via our website, here .
Is the venue accessible?
Yes! Room 1.02 is accessible via a lift for those who cannot take the stairs.
This meeting will be held in person, with attendees available to dial in for the second portion where the ASMM will deliberate and vote on changes to our byelaws.
